Our Mission

At Asterisk Learning, we are dedicated to the belief that students with disabilities deserve schools capable of addressing their unique needs.

We are committed to partnering with schools to establish robust, sustainable special education systems that go beyond mere compliance and instead foster an environment where every student can flourish year after year. Additionally, we believe that empowered parents makes for empowered learners. We offer support to parents through the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process, ensuring they have the guidance and resources they need to advocate effectively for their child's educational journey.

Anna Lemmons - Founder and CEO

Anna brings extensive experience in Special Education in various cities and school districts across the nation: she has taught in a public school, opened a charter school, and managed the Special Education program of a charter school network. A seasoned educator, she has significant insight into Special Education both as a teacher and an administrator.

Most recently, Anna acted as a Special Education subject matter expert for the New York City Department of Education’s Special Education Data Management System. She previously served as the Special Education Director of Success Academy Charter Schools, New York City’s largest charter school organization. She led the redesign of Success Academy’s special education program, adapting it to reflect growing trends in the industry and orienting it towards a culture of inclusivity to better serve the diverse families across forty-seven elementary, middle, and high schools within the network. Anna is most proud of redeveloping the social-emotional learning support structure and installing a dedicated, on-site mental health expert in every school.
